A new partnership creates ‘Theatre in the WILD’

ATTENTION MOMS AND DADS!!!!

Do you want your kids to have a WILD experience this summer?

Do you want them to learn about Acting and the Planet from the most experienced professionals?

Then Enroll them in Theater in the Wild a NEW program from The Detroit Zoo and Meadow Brook Theatre

Meadow Brook Theatre is thrilled to announce a new program in conjunction with the Detroit Zoo for summer 2010.  We hope you will come and join in at the Zoo to experience Theater in the Wild.  The Zoo has teamed up with professionals from Meadow Brook Theatre to bring you a summer program that will unleash your creative “beast”.  Participants will use improvisation and skits to learn the building blocks of theater (acting, props, costumes, movement, mask work) and explore their relationship with the earth and its inhabitants in a new and exciting way.  This week long experience will culminate with a performance for friends and family on the stage in the Main Picnic Grove.  We are offering two weeks of Theater in the Wild this season August 16 –  20 and August 23 – 27.  Each session will have a week long program for youth ages 6-9 and youth ages 10-14.  The program will be from 9 am to 4 pm each day and participants will need to bring a lunch. Program cost per session is $225 for Detroit Zoological Society members and $235 for non-members.  If you are interested in registering your child for the wildest theater experience in town, call the Zoo’s Education Register at 248-541-5717 ext. 3800 Program participants will be receiving a t-shirt with the program. If you have any questions or would like more information, call the Education Registrar at the number above or e-mail Education@detroitzoo.org.

Jamie Kolacki and Katie Hardy in Breaking Up is Hard to Do

These programs will be run by Katie Hardy and Jamie Kolacki from last year’s hit show Breaking Up is Hard to Do.  Both Jamie and Katie are ANDES AWARDS recipients for favorite performances in a musical.  There will also be other Theatre and Zoo professionals joining in the fun.  We hope to see you there!
