Eric Gutman of Broadway’s Jersey Boys steps into the 20 questions series today. We are so thrilled that Eric will be joining the great cast assembled for Dracula: A Rock Opera. He is playing Jonathan Harker, the young lover of Wilhelmina, who goes to Transylvania to perform a land transaction deal for Count Dracula. He eventually finds himself imprisoned in Dracula’s castle and attacked by Dracula’s wives. Come and see whether he makes it out alive!

20 Questions with Eric Gutman
Where did you grow up? Born in Oak Park, moved to Southern California at 4 years old and then moved back to Michigan (Farmington Hills) in high school.
Where did you go to school? Western Michigan University – BFA in Musical Theater Performance
Who in your life has been your biggest influence? As a performer, my amazing professors like Jim Gilchrist, Terry Williams, Jim Daniels and the late David Karsten. As a person, my father.
What is your dream role? Judas in “Jesus Christ Superstar” or Che in “Evita”
Do you believe in Vampires? I believe there are people out there that consider themselves vampires…whether they grow fangs and can fly is another story.
Why do you think people today are obsessed with Vampires? Twilight…True Blood…Buffy…The Vampire Diaries…Blade…it’s constant pop culture.
Favorite Restaurant? Depends on the craving…but I can give you my favs for pretty much any cuisine you want to discuss.
Last scary movie you saw? Zombieland – a must see if you like that line between horror movie and dark comedy.
Last play you saw? Next to Normal…amazing!
Last book you read? “The Silent Sea” by Clive Cussler
Next project after Dracula? There are some things in the works…and “Reunion” at Meadow Brook in February-March.
Favorite place to visit? New York City (for about 3-4 days tops), anywhere tropical.
Number of siblings and where you fit into the count? Rob (lives in Austin, TX) and Brian (lives in Brooklyn, NY). I’m the oldest.
Favorite Musician? I am all over the map with that one: Foo Fighters, Elvis Costello, Pearl Jam, The Who, Ben Folds
Favorite Playwright? Neil Simon or David Mamet
Were you a “Crest” Kid? (if not what toothpaste do you use to clean your fangs) I remember loving Aquafresh as a kid.
Favorite onstage blooper? Too many to count…too many I have been the cause of 😉
Favorite pastime? Sitting in a quiet room with my guitar.
Biggest pet peeve? Filling out 20 questions…or people that snap gum in their mouth incessantly.
